Winnebago, IL

Founded in the fall of 2004 with 17 students; our first competition season was in 2005 which included a trip to the championship event in Atlanta, Georgia. Over the past 21 years, Winnovation qualified for World Championships fourteen times and made two appearances on Einstein. While we are proud of our achievements, the robot’s win-loss record is not the most satisfying accomplishment. We celebrate the impact that Winnovation Robotics has had on the more than 200 students and mentors who have been a part of the program over the past 21 years. Several of our graduates are now coaching their own teams, continuing to foster curiosity, creativity, awareness and initiative (+ secrets of the universe) in young people across the country.

With a mission to inspire innovation through hands-on learning, FLYT empowers students to develop technical expertise, business acumen, leadership, and teamwork skills that prepare them for real-world careers. The team is mentored by a dedicated group of professionals--two-thirds of whom are FIRST alumni--who bring experience and enthusiasm to every build season.

Above all, FLYT is committed to creating an inclusive, encouraging space where students of all skill levels can thrive and grow--on and off the FRC field.

We also earned 2 autonomous awards in 2025 and have previously won many other judged awards. We are also proud of the work we do to better our community such as: building 2 power wheelchairs for disabled youth; building over 70 adaptive toys and delivering them to the Winnebago County Special Education Coop; managing a STEM Club at the Talcott Library; and attending many STEM events to showcase robotics. We are proud of all the alumni that have gone on to do great things and that have also come back to help mentor the team.
