Due to recent guidelines provided by FIRST headquarters and the Illinois Governor’s Office it is with great sadness that we have decided to postpone R2OC Robotics Competition until July of 2021. Continuing to promote science, technology, engineering and math education in our community will not stop though!
We will continue to support local FIRST developmental robotics teams by continuing our FIRST Developmental Grants program. FIRST Lego League and FIRST Tech Challenge teams in Boone, Winnebago and Stephenson counties will still have the opportunity to apply for a grant to support up to half of their registration costs beginning June 1, 2020. FIRST Developmental Grant applications can be found on our grant program page.
In addition, R2OC will continue to support FIRST students on their post-secondary journey by awarding multiple $1,000 scholarships. Current juniors and seniors from FIRST Robotics Competition teams that have participated in R2OC in 2018 and 2019 will be eligible to apply. Scholarship applications can be found on our scholarship page.
Both application windows will close August 1, 2020. All of this is possible thanks to the amazing support we have received from sponsors throughout our community who are committed to promoting the future of manufacturing and innovation.
Please stay healthy and safe and we look forward to seeing you all in 2021!
