2023 R2OC Scholarship Application    

Rock River Robotics Off-season Competition (R2OC) is celebrating its 11th year anniversary!
We are looking forward to this year’s offseason competition. We are continuing our
partnership with RVC Foundation and will award the following scholarships at this year’s
competition on July 22, 2023. These scholarships are available to students whose FRC team is competing in the 2023 R2OC event.

One $1500 scholarship, ”In Memory of Norma J. Trojan”, will be awarded to a 2023
graduating HS student who is accepted to attend Rock Valley College in the upcoming fall
semester.
Two $1000 scholarships will be awarded to two students who are applying for the following
scholarship:
R2OC Scholarship for high school students who will be graduating in either 2023 or 2024.
To be eligible for these scholarships, the applicant must be a member of an FRC team that is
participating in the R2OC event being held on July 22, 2023, at RVC. For winning applicants,
R2OC will award a check written, in the name of each winning student, to his or her appropriate
school account. The scholarship monies can be used to pay for tuition. In the event that the
students does not have any tuitions expenses, the monies can be applied towards the
purchasing of books, dorm housing, or other college expenses paid through the college.
*Previous winners are ineligible to apply for the scholarships

To be considered for one of the R2OC/RVC FOUNDATION or “In Memory of Norma J. Trojan”
Scholarship opportunities, please return this completed form and include: (1) essay response to
the below question (Word document or PDF); (2) a copy of your resume; and (3) two letters of
recommendation with at least one from a team mentor including their name, organization,
phone number and email address. All of this information is required for any application to be
considered. Please refer to the website for tips on submitting a successful application.

R2OC Scholarship Application Process Essay Question:

How has my involvement in the FIRST program impacted my high school experience, my growth
as a team oriented leader, and amplified the significance of community service as part of my life
in and outside of the classroom.
Please limit your essay to no more than 1000 words.

Completed title page, resume, essay, and references must be received by Saturday, June 10, 2023. No

The Following is for Freshman and Sophomore High school students entering the Rock Valley program.

Scholarships Application Deadline High School 9 to 12 th grade

RVC is offering several scholarships through R2OC/RVC Foundation Scholarship Program. 

Four $500 scholarships will be awarded to high school students in grades 9-12 who are applying for one of the following programs:

*Dual Credit students through Rock Valley College and their current high school

*Running Start students through Rock Valley College and their current high school.
