Crusader Clinic is a community based, non-profit health center that serves the Rock River Valley area. Reach Out and Read is an evidence-based nonprofit organization of medical providers who promote early literacy and school readiness in pediatric exam rooms nationwide by giving new books to children and advice to parents about the importance of reading aloud.
At the 2013 event, attending teams donated over 1400 new and gently used children’s books to the local Reach Out and Read Chapter affiliated with Crusader Clinic. For each five books donated, teams received an entry into a drawing for a framed denim shirt signed by Dean Kamen. Team 0648, QC Elite, won the drawing.
At the 2014 event, attending teams donated over 600 books. Congratulations to Team 1747, Harrison Boiler. They won a copy of The New Cool for being the team that donated the most books.
